The Joy of Learning
The Joy of Learning
I just LOVE to learn. And especially learn new creative skills, whether on a canvas… or a computer! There are exciting new projects in the works right now, and today I want to share a little peek at what’s going on behind the scenes!
My love of learning is probably one of the reasons I also love to teach so much. When I create a class, I always imagine myself as a student:
What do I want to learn? Or more accurately: what feels so exciting and stirs my soul so much that I can’t wait to try it and make it mine?
What do I need on this journey? Meaning: what do I think I need and what do I really need, sometimes without even realizing it?
What resources will help me find my own way?
What are the extra little touches that will turn it all into a delightful adventure?
I always create classes about what feels most exciting to me in the moment, because (a little selfishly) the experience teaches me so much! I give a lot of thought to the structure of the lessons, but at the same time I love to experiment and try new things right there on camera, not knowing exactly where the creative process is going to take me… because that’s what creativity is all about! And I love having a framework to rely on, something to make me feel safe enough that I can let go and dive right into the joy of experimenting, playing and exploring… Something steady to help me take the next step.
Exciting news!
So, speaking of “framework”, I’m so excited about what we are building for YOU right now: we are working on some BIG beautiful changes that will make the learning experience even better and help you make progress, stay focused (“focus” is my word of the year for 2020) and have even more fun!
In the coming months we will be moving all my online classes to a new platform that is truly designed for learning. I have loved creating my classes here on my website and it was a great option when I was getting started, but now with over 3000 students, and much more in my free classes, it is time to take the next step!
As you might know, my husband William is now working with me full time and we are both busy as happy geeky bees building a new system that will answer most of the wishes of our lovely tribe. In every class (even the free ones!) you will soon be able to:
Track your progress and start again right where you left off
Easily navigate the classes on mobile devices through a dedicated app
Ask me questions, interact with each other and post photos of your work right within the course platform, without having to be on Facebook (no worries, there will still be FB groups though!)
Enjoy faster loading pages for those of you who don’t have a great internet connection
All this work is not as glamorous as art-making for sure, and I may not have much eye-candy to share on social media in the coming weeks, but this is exciting creative work nonetheless and the life-long learner in me is giddy at the possibilities!
These changes will not be released before a month or two (at least) and in the meantime there will still be new class announcements so stay tuned for happy news very soon! (did I hear a new mini class?…)
And if you have more ideas on your wish list to improve our classroom site, don’t hesitate and please share them below in a comment!
