Inspiration from Brittany
Inspiration from
beautiful Brittany
Hello beautiful soul! I’m just back from a lovely and well-deserved vacation with my little family: a whole week in one of our favorite places, Brittany! Think medieval villages, stone cottages with thatched roofs, fairy-filled forests and flowers everywhere… So today I thought I’d share a few pictures of what we’ve been up to, I hope they inspire you!
the magic of nature
What I love most about Brittany is the gorgeous, lush nature all around. Flowers are everywhere: roses of course, agapanthus, fuchsia, and literally thousands of hydrangeas. And all that green! Beautiful, ancient trees, lakes and ponds, and so many plants I want to try in our garden…
out of a fairytale
Fairytales and legends are never far away, with medieval villages and thatched cottages, castles and the Arthurian forest of Broceliande. There are plenty of artists, artisan shops and exhibitions, so the atmosphere is filled with creativity. I have definitely filled my well of inspiration!
a sweet break
Of course, the most important part was to relax, switch off and enjoy plenty of family time together. Originally, we’d been hoping to go to Ireland or the UK (we love to travel there once a year) but Brittany was the next best thing. We even found a cosy tea room where the kids were able to order their favorite English treat: hot chocolate with whipped cream and tiny marshmallows (I’ve never seen it served anywhere else in France before). Plus this lovely place gave me even more inspiration to decorate our home, and of course my studio!
back to creating!
Now we’re back home and there’s plenty of goodness on the horizon! For one thing, I know that all this inspiration is going to ripple out into my art, and especially my art journal, which I really want to focus on in the coming months. If you’d like to journal with me: great news! I’m reopening my main art journaling class The Artist & the Journal in just a few days. Find out more here:
I have some exciting projects coming soon, including a live show that starts next month, but for the rest of 2021, I also feel a deep need to slow down, spend more time just enjoying life with my little family, and keep making our home a sweet, cosy nest where we can all relax and nurture our dreams.
Playing in my art journal is always a great way to do just that, and I look forward to the new pages that are going to come to life in the coming months. It’s fun to think that right now, I have no idea what they will be! It feels so good to just let inspiration do its thing.
