Inflorescence
Inflorescence
new art, part 4/5
The year has almost reached this mysterious point where night and rest prevail, while light is preparing to return and bring renewed energy to the world. It is a good time to reflect upon what has unfolded in the past months, and to continue, this week and the next, to share the art that has emerged, and close the cycle.
Today I'm inviting you to make a wish, to blow the seeds of possibility into the wind, and to feel how much life, how much growth already exist in those seemingly weightless dancing particles.
If you let them, if you trust them, they will find fertile ground to land. There, they will let themselves be buried into the womb of the Earth, they will rest, and then secretly grow strong roots. Be patient. Even though you can't see it on the surface, there's riotous life bustling underneath.
Soon new shoots will find their way up, guided by light and warmth. Fragile at first, then stronger and taller. Soon they will proudly raise new blooms towards the sun, and delight in balancing their umbels in the tender breeze.
And once again, ethereal seeds of life will appear. New longings will make themselves known. New promises will be whispered in the wind and find their way into your heart. Allow...
"Inflorescences" is a 2015 series of small original works. These light yet highly textured and layered mixed media pieces are made of paper and fabric collaged on reclaimed wood. The blooms are both sketched and engraved into the texture. Inks and paints give them life while loosely handwritten wishes and reveries add movement in a soft way.
