artist statement
I make art to create a sanctuary of wonder — a serene experience that evokes magic and possibility.
Inspiring, yet grounding, my art plays with the union of paradox: ethereal, but with earthy edges; light and shadow; structure and intuition; beauty found in imperfection.
A deep connection to nature infuses my work: I collect feathers, bark, mosses and flowers, on solitary, woodland walks. They inspire me to engage with the enchantment of texture, color and light.
It’s all about the senses, whispers, touch.
Working intuitively, my emotions become my compass. I surrender to the moment and become fully present, listening to what wants to emerge — beginning with writing on the canvas or using collage, inks, paints, or pastels, then building the piece layer by layer.
It’s physical: I trust my body and hands to create an experience; what was once unknown —a mystery— becomes revealed. Different stories are told, depending on the angle and distance of the viewer’s eye. It’s an act of discovery… a treasure hunt of minute details… and then, an intangible memory, reconnects, and welcomes you home.
