Studio Tour

my new creative space

I am all settled in my new creative haven and have just started filming a new class! (which you can find out more about HERE) This space is such a dream come true!

Before I give you the full tour, here is a quick before/after:

What the space looked like after the movers left…

And here it is now!

I did love my previous studio very much (see it HERE), but it is so nice to have more space to move around. No more bumping large canvases into the sloped ceiling!

High ceiling + tall windows = LOVE

The main working/filming table is in the middle of the room, then there’s the easel and another counter for packing artwork and other non-messy tasks. It has my sewing machine that I got for my 18th birthday and I can see more fiber arts in the future!

Above the counter is a shelf to display works in progress and unfinished canvases that are waiting for a little love…

Having all my supplies and books around me is a true inspiration booster, and being on the ground floor (not far from the kitchen sink) is a serious upgrade as well!!

The doors open into the hallway… turn right to rinse brushes in the kitchen!

Books, magazines, rolls of mulberry paper, vintage wallpapers, tissue and plenty of paper scraps… I’m a paper-lover!

My big basket of paper scraps, always on display and ready to play!

The electricians have done a wonderful job, adding 3 big LED panels that recreate daylight so I can work whenever I like.

I made some changes to my filming setup and I love it!

Another really cool feature is the canvas storage. I already had those shelves in my previous space, they were placed next to each other under the sloped ceiling. But now that the ceiling is so much higher, William has stacked them on top of each other and they don’t take as much space as before. Plus I’ve added a nice curtain and voilà! Artworks are safely tucked in, awaiting their forever homes… (Also, if you are wondering what those black covers are: they are Biyomaps and they’re awesome!)

Another big difference is that now my office is in the same room as my art space. Before, I sometimes resented the long hours working on the computer, “away” from the studio. But now it’s easy to take a creative break and keep inspiration going!

My office inspiration wall is all about lifting me up and giving me the courage and confidence to show up every day…

… and my art inspiration wall, on the other side of the room, is all about abstract at the moment!

Art, textures, colors and images that inspire me.

And finally, did I mention that the room itself is just gorgeous? Lovely double doors and windows with just the right amount of peeling paint, a view of the front garden which will soon be filled with flowers, roses on the ceiling that were painted over 100 years ago, and a fireplace that serves as an inspiration altar… it’s all so beautiful that simply being in this space makes me feel inspired. And at the same time, the walls and wooden floors are just shabby enough that I won’t be afraid to get messy!

The fireplace turned inspiration altar, and an unfinished floral (I really like it at this stage so I’m in no hurry to finish it…)

There is such a beautiful, vibrant energy in this space and I know it will infuse the art and the classes I create in it. I look forward to sharing them with YOU!

Light & Love,
